Healthy Child Monitoring

Healthy child monitoring is the basic service provided by family physicians, general practitioners, and pediatricians who specialize in child health and diseases. The aim of this monitoring is to maintain health, reduce and prevent deaths, illnesses, and disabilities.

The essential services to achieve this goal include:

  • Identifying risky conditions
  • Regulating pregnancies
  • Providing information and support to families regarding physical, mental, and social aspects of child care
  • Ensuring healthy and natural nutrition
  • Monitoring growth and development
  • Administering vaccinations
  • Conducting screening tests and special assessments for early diagnosis

Healthy Child Monitoring Program:

  • Examination schedules at 2-4 days, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 15, 18 months
  • 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 8, 10, 12, 14, 16, 18 years
  • Blood pressure measurement
  • Vision screening at 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10, 12, 15, 18 months
  • Hearing screening at 2, 4, 5, 6, 12 years
  • Complete blood count at 6 months, 2 years, 5 years, 12 years
  • Urinalysis at 9 months, 5 years, 12 years
  • Cholesterol screening at 3 years for high-risk groups
  • Dental screening at 3, 5, 12 years

Vaccination Administration:

There is a mandatory vaccination program provided free of charge by the Ministry of Health, aiming to vaccinate children as early as possible according to country-specific conditions.

Screening Tests:

Detecting a health problem that hasn't shown symptoms yet is one of the most effective healthcare services. Screening programs are systematic approaches applied for early diagnosis.

  • Hypothyroidism (TSH and T4 measurement from heel blood sample after the 2nd day)
  • Phenylketonuria (at 5-7 days)
  • Developmental Hip Dysplasia (up to 3 months with USG)
  • Vision Screenings
  • Hearing Screenings
  • Iron Deficiency Anemia Screening (at 6 months, 2-12 years)
  • PPD Test (at 6-12 months, 2-16 years)
  • Urinary Tract Infection Screening (at 6-12 months, 2-16 years)
  • Blood Pressure Measurement (annually from age 3 onwards)
  • Hyperlipidemia (annual evaluation starting from age 2)
