How do we protect children from contagious diseases?

How do we protect children from contagious diseases?

Handwashing

Handwashing is one of the most effective ways to prevent infections. It is recommended that those caring for a child, especially during the first 0-3 months, wash their hands before each touch and feeding. Additionally, it's advisable for anyone who will be in contact with the child to wash their hands before such contact. Teaching a child to wash their hands is one of the first things they should learn, especially when they can move independently. It is recommended to wash hands with soap for about a minute.

Balanced Nutrition

Every newborn should be exclusively breastfed for the first 6 months, and breastfeeding should commence within the first 30 minutes after birth. Initiating breastfeeding within the first 30 minutes contributes to the better development of the baby's immune system. After the first 6 months, providing a balanced and adequate intake of protein, carbohydrates, fats, vitamins, and minerals enhances the immune system and increases resistance to illnesses.

Vaccination

Ensure that your child receives all vaccinations on time and in full. You can obtain detailed information about the timing of vaccinations from your pediatrician and health clinics.

Inquire with healthcare professionals about special vaccines such as varicella (chickenpox), rotavirus (viral gastroenteritis), meningococcal disease, hepatitis A, and human papillomavirus vaccines.

Regularly take your children for well-child check-ups.
